Delegates from AFT-Maryland local affiliates traveled to Los Angeles, California, July 11-15, 2014 to attend and participate in AFT's biennial national Convention. #AFT14
 

AFT-MD locals support Postal Workers in Los Angeles

Delegates from AFT-Maryland locals joined the AFT Rally to support US Postal Workers and STOP STAPLES outside the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Maryland delegates represented Baltimore Teachers Union, BCFPE, BCFPHN, City Union of Baltimore, MPEC, and AFT Healthcare-Maryland.

MPEC COPE Announces Primary Endorsements

MPEC’s Committee on Political Education (COPE) has refined its candidate endorsement process and is proud to announce the endorsement of former Executive Board Secretary, Bill Marker, for State Delegate in District 40. Bill is one of the charter members of MPEC and has 20 years of service as a State of Maryland employee. He also brings many years of service to his community.

AFTMD Gubernatorial Debate Viewing Party, 6/2/14

Join your union sisters and brothers as we watch the three democratic candidates for governor– Heather Mizeur, Doug Gansler, and Labor-endorsed Anthony Brown – engage in the final debate before the primary election. Food and soft drinks will be provided.

AFT-Maryland Aids Kansas Organizing Effort

AFT-Maryland staff and affiliate members journeyed to Wichita, Kansas, March 9-14 for a week of intensive training in the AFT organizing model and to help the Kansas Organization of State Employees (KOSE) identify potential activists and recruit new union members. The AFT-Maryland volunteers joined union members from Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, and Kansas in the joint organizing effort, which was launched as a part of the “Reclaiming the Promise of High Quality Public Services for Strong Communities,” an AFT national initiative."
