Maryland Professional Employees Council Election of Officers and Delegates to Convention


In accordance with the Constitution and By Laws of the Maryland Professional Employees Council, (MPEC), AFT-Maryland, American Federation of Teachers (AFT), AFL-CIO, attached is the Nominations Form for the election of Executive Officers  and the Convention Delegates to the AFT Convention, the AFT-Maryland Convention and the Maryland State AFL-CIO Convention.


As provided in the by laws of Local 6197, any full member of MPEC, who has been in good standing for at least six months prior to the date of the election is eligible to nominate candidates and run for office. The term of office will run for two years beginning June 4, 2018.  Nomination forms can be found HERE.  


The Election Committee is: Lori Graham-SHA, Melissa Archer-DHCD and Roscoe Brunson-DLLR (Chair)


Nominations  must be received by the Election Committee, at the MPEC Local 6197 office via postal mail, fax or email no later than April 13th, 2018, at 4:30 PM.


Candidates must affirmatively accept nomination when contacted by a member of the Election Committee, by 4:30 p.m. on April 18th, 2018.


In accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Maryland Professional Employees Council, election ballots will be mailed out to all Local 6197 eligible voting members by April 27, 2018 and will be based on the results of the nominations and acceptance by the candidates. Additional information regarding the election will be provided along with the ballot. Ballots must be returned by 5:00 PM on May 23, 2018.


The ballots will be opened and counted on Thursday, May 24th at 12:00 PM at the MPEC Office located at 1707 N. Charles St., Suite 202, Baltimore MD 21201 by the Election Committee.


The Annual Meeting will take place on May 24th, 2018 at 6:00 PM.


By Constitution, all Officers serve as delegates to affiliate conventions. However, the local may be entitled to as many as 38 additional Delegates and/or Alternates.  To place your name or that of other MPEC members in nomination to serve as a Delegate or Alternate at affiliate conventions, print the names on the lines indicated (up to 38). If you choose to run for an Executive  Officer position, you may still place your name in nomination or be nominated by another full member in good standing as a Convention Delegate.
